What is the new e-Visa authorization?
As the name suggests, e-visa is an electronic travel document. In 2018 the Thai Government announced the modernization of its system of entry into the country. The new system is currently being tried and will be fully effective by April 2019. During this test phase, citizens of the following countries: United Kingdom, France, China, and the United Arab Emirates will be able to apply for an online authorization.
Validity of the authorization
The electronic tourist visa allows a stay up to 60 days, which can be extended by 30 days bringing the total duration of the stay to 90 days. Although Thailand is one of the most hospitable countries in the world, you have to respect the length of the tourist stay granted by the government.
In case of exceeding this duration, the tourist caught may be fined and even imprisoned. For this offense, Thai law defines a fine of 500 baht (about 13,4 £) per day.
What to do in case of refusal? In case of refusal, know that you are not forbidden to stay, you will however have to go to the embassy or the consulate to apply for a temporary authorization.

validation of your application. The standard duration of an authorization is a few minutes. However,
if documents are missing, you will be notified within 72 hours of your registration, specifying the steps to follow.
